ZOO Accessible Adventure Days

PARAQUAD_SA
United Water

TigerThe Paraplegic and Quadriplegic Association of SA (PARAQUAD SA) and United Water invites South Australians with disabilities, their families and friends to experience the beauty and excitement of the Adelaide Zoo in a welcoming and accessible environment.

Around 5000 people with a disability and their families and friends have so far attended this annual event, now in its sixth year – the biggest disability event in the state.

Very important: to access these special offers, people attending the event will be required a Zoo Days Invitation (see below) or an original newspaper advertisement displayed in The Advertiser between Wednesday April and Friday April 7. Ticket pre-bookings are not required.

Special entry prices and benefits

$6.00 (inc GST) entry to Zoo for people with a disability, including free entry for a Carer – tickets can be purchased at the gate on the day.

A 20% discount to families and friends of people with a disability attending.

Free clowns & face painting, special activities, animal exhibits and displays in the United Water Family Area, daily between 12:00-2:00pm.

Qualified Support Worker on duty to help with visitors general needs – people requiring personal or medical support are requested to bring along their own Carer.

Zoo Volunteers on duty to help with mobility and access to all areas of the Zoo.

Special give-aways

A free United Water Zoo fun bag to the first 1,000 people with a disability attending the event.

Free guided tours

Free guided tours leave the Zoo Shop at 10:30am and 2:00pm each day.  For larger or special-needs group tours, please telephone Jan (Coordinator of Volunteers) on 8267 3255.

Blind Welfare AssociationFree vision-impaired guided tour on Friday April 7 leaving from the Zoo Shop at 12:30pm – courtesy of the Blind Welfare Association (small group bookings not required).

DeafSAFree hearing-impaired guided tour on Sunday April 9 leaving from the Zoo Shop at 12:00pm – courtesy of DeafSA (small group bookings not required).

 

Transport services

To book a taxi for the event, phone Adelaide Access Taxis on 1300 360 940 or Adelaide Independent Taxis on 13 2211.  Please encourage people utilising a taxi for the event to book a return trip when making their booking.
