A presentation on cancer
Friday 7 September 2007
6:30pm - 9pm
Cancer Care Centre Incorporated
76 Edmund Avenue, Unley
A presentation on cancer

Guest speaker

Dr Shaun Matthews, Holistic Medical Practitioner and Ayurvedic Therapist.

The Science of Self-Healing, Health and Longevity

Ayurveda is the traditional system of healing of India. This form of healing has been practised by people for 6000 years, yet its timeless principles are just as relevant to modern Australian life in 2007 as they were to the human condition generations ago. In this presentation, you will learn practical ways to integrate Ayurvedic healing principles into your busy, contemporary lifestyle... using real solutions that work for real people. Ayurveda is much more than just a system for the treatment of disease, it concerns itself with how to live a life well lived, so that you have no regrets. By living in line with our life’s purpose, there come profound benefits for our heath and sense of wellbeing. Our life force is immeasurably stronger, as is our resistance to disease.

It is presented by Dr Shaun Matthews, a medical practitioner from Sydney who specialises in the treatment of chronic illnesses such as cancer and chronic fatigue syndrome. He is also an Ayurvedic and Yoga therapist who uses his knowledge to help people see how they can make a difference, through dietary and lifestyle modification, to their particular disease. Dr Matthews is a gifted teacher (he was Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales from 1992-2005) and Coodinator of the Ayurvedic Faculty at Sydney’s famous Nature Care College. From his work at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine and through the many patients he helps from his private practise at the Bondi Whole Health Centre, he offers a wealth of experiences in healing and illness recovery.

This evening presentation will be an ‘up close and personal’ opportunity to listen to Dr Matthews share generously with all who attend. Because it will be in ‘intimate mode’ (which means a small group of no more than 30 people) there is ample opportunity to get answers directly from Dr Matthews about issues pertaining to cancer and the challenges it brings. Dr Matthews will reveal ideas on how to live your life in harmony with nature, explore your relationships with the world and how to live a life with peace of mind and a deep sense of purpose. The beauty of Ayurvedic treatments is that they work through the five senses and so offer an elegant and practical way to live gracefully and in tune with nature. Come to this Ayurvedic Healing presentation and learn how to look after yourself physically and mentally using simple, but profound principles of Ayurveda as taught by one of Australia’s most passionate and revered practitioners.
