Awareness meeting a great success

May 14, 2002

400 people attended our public meeting on ME/CFS held on Monday May 13, 2002. It was opened by Her Excellency, Marjorie Jackson-Nelson, AC, CVO, MBE, Governor of South Australia.

The meeting began with the President of the ME/CFS Society of South Australia, Paul Leverenz, giving a brief overview of CFS – what it is, how it is defined, how it is diagnosed, etc...

The keynote speaker, Simon Molesworth (pictured right), presented a stirring speech, briefing people on what the National ME/CFS Association is doing with regards to lobbying governments and advocating for people with ME/CFS. He encouraged all people with ME/CFS not to lose heart, as the tide was turning in public and government opinion.

The meeting also heard from an expert panel consisting of a psychologist, advocate, dietitian and general practitioner.
