DSP: Federal Budget announcement

May 11, 2005

Budget 2005-06The Society views with concern the changes to the DSP announced in the Federal Budget.

Our reading of the Budget reports suggests that current DSP holders will not be affected by the new changes effective July 1, 2006.

CentrelinkHowever, new DSP recipients after this will be subject to New Start requirements (ie if the person is capable of working 15 hours of work or more at award rate per week they will be subject to New Start requirements of seeking employment to these limitations and providing evidence of this to Centrelink).

We will be following this up on your behalf with the relevant politicians.

– Peter Mitchell, Hon Sec
