Reply from 891 ABC Adelaide’s Long Lunch

By Kate Bailey
Producer ABC 891 Afternoons

April 30, 2005

Dear Peter,

Thank you for your email concerning the recent segment on our program regarding invisible illness. Your point is taken and we would welcome you onto the program to talk about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome specifically.

Please be assured that we were not aiming to trivialise CFS, rather we were trying to create a social, historical and cultural understanding of how people with invisible diseases (of which there are many) have been treated in the past, and are treated at present. I think our guests, along with several of our callers, made it clear that at times there is a distinct lack of understanding amongst today’s community and that is something that needs to be addressed.

Feel free to nominate when you might be available to speak on our show, and thanks again for listening.

Kind regards,

Kate Bailey
