Fruit fly outbreak in the Wingfield area

There has been a recent fruit fly outbreak in the Wingfield area.
Reforms in fruit fly eradication methods in the past five years have withdrawn the use of more toxic organophosphate insecticides in favour of non-toxic biological controls using sterile fly and an organic-approved pesticide bait called Spinosad derived from bacterial fermentation.
This notification is from the Department of Primary Industries and Resources and would be of interest to some for our members:
