Canadian Consensus Documents and OverviewsSeptember 22, 2006
The Consensus Documents for ME/CFS and FMS are now published. They are clinical milestones in the fight against these complex and often debilitating illnesses. To further assist busy medical practitioners, Dr. Bruce Carruthers, principal author of the ME/CFS Consensus Document and Co-Editor of the FMS Consensus Document, and Marjorie van de Sande, Consensus Coordinator of the Consensus Documents, have written and published Overviews of the Canadian Consensus Documents for ME/CFS and FMS independent of any organisation:
The Journal of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Vol. 11 No. 1, 2003 contains many articles, including: “CFS Guidelines by Kenny De Meirleir and Neil McGregor; and “ME/CFS: Clinical Working Case Definition, Diagnostic and Treatment Protocols,” by many authors. The other document comes from the Journal of Musculoskeletal Pain and is entitled “The Fibromyalgia Syndrome: A Clinical Case Definition for Practitioners.” Both documents, as well as the Consensus Documents section of the National ME/FM Action Network website are available here: The National ME/FM Action Network wishes to thank all the members of the Expert Consensus Panels, and their Consensus Coordinator, Marjorie van de Sande, its Director of Education, for all the time and effort put into these documents. It also wish to thank its members for their constant support and encouragement to see these documents to fruition. |
