DIRC wants you to tell your story

Thursday 26 April 2007

DIRCThe Disability Information and Resource Centre (DIRC) is calling on people with disabilities to “tell their stories and share their experiences.”

The statement from DIRC is as follows:

Tell your story

Telling stories can empower, raise awareness and improve understanding.

The Disability Information and Resource Centre (DIRC) wants people with a disability in South Australia to tell their stories and share their experiences.

DIRC has received a grant from Community Benefit SA to fund the establishment of the History of Disability in South Australia project. The project will include the history of people with a disability in South Australia since settlement in 1836. Over the past 170 years much has happened in the lives of people with a disability. DIRC will create a website that will explore and record this history.

We want your stories so we can acknowledge, commemorate and celebrate the lives of people with a disability. These stories will provide a lasting legacy for all South Australians.

Stories will be chosen to feature on our History of Disability in South Australia website.

To tell your story go to www.dircsa.org.au/history/submit, complete the form and submit it to us by 30th June 2007.
