Smoke-free local places – strike a blow for your health and civic rights

Thursday 26 April 2007

Smoking SurveyMessenger Community Newspapers is running an online poll. It wants to know how much support there is for local governments around Australia to follow the lead of a few councils – notably Mosman in Sydney  – which have begun passing bylaws banning smoking from places under their control. This can include shelters, playgrounds and civic spaces of all kinds.

This is a great opportunity to make your voice heard on this important matter. Many people with ME/CFS find the streets of their towns and cities no-go zones because they’re under occupation by an army of smokers.

So go to www.messengernews.com.au and you’ll find the National Smoking Survey at the right hand side of the front page. Clicking on it will open this page: www.messengernews.com.au/smokers_survey.html which provides information about the Survey.

The Survey itself is directly available here: 202.148.132.65/ekas/70424a.asp.
