CENTRELINK BENEFITS

Important volunteer information for people receiving Centrelink benefits:

Volunteers can now benefit from helping local communities and not-for-profit organisations throughAustralian Governmentcommunity initiatives. If you are registered withCentrelinkand would like to participate in this flexible arrangement, you may be eligible to receive up to $800 worth of approved training via a ‘Training Credit’. You may also be eligible for an additional $20.80 fortnightly allowance supplement.

What’s in it for me?

• Volunteers have the potential to earn up to $800.00 of Training Credits. Training Credits can be used for any approved training course and are valid for one year.
• For eligible volunteers a supplement of $20.80 per fortnight is issued, this can be used to cover transport costs.
• Protective Equipment and uniforms. Jobs Statewide will provide these if they are required at no cost to you.

Who is eligible?

Volunteers must be in receipt of aCentrelinkbenefit e.g. Mature Age Allowance, Carer Allowance, Disability Support Pension, Parenting Payment, Widow Allowance and Wife Pension.

What do I have to do?

If you are interested, you will need to call one of our CWC offices to arrange an initial interview with a consultant. Our Community Work Coordinator will work with you to assess your eligibility and your options.

What if I don’t want to participate anymore?

• There is no obligation. Should you wish to cease this arrangement you will need to contact your consultant and inform them of your wishes.
