Epic bike ride for ME/CFS fundraisingMonday 11 August 2008
Now recovered from ME/CFS, Eric has undertaken an epic journey by bicycle to raise funds for The ME Association in the UK. He began in May 2008 in Aberdeen and plans to end his trek here in Adelaide in April 2010. In Eric’s words: “Having successfully overcome years of ill-health, I now plan to 'Celebrate' the event by cycling from Aberdeen to Adelaide to raise money for M.E. the condition which has shaped my life for the past 20 years! My planned route will be challenging and diverse, taking me through 15 countries across Europe, Asia and Australia! I shall be using basic accommodation, local camping facilities and where need be, sleeping rough! Cycling approximately 50 miles a day, 5 days a week, I estimate that my trip will take anything from 18 to 24 months. Previously, my poor health has prevented me from attempting something so physically demanding. However, I am genuinely excited at the challenges that lie in front of me and fully intend to meet them head on - with hopefully, the wind on my back!” Good luck, Eric!
