Sleep Disorders Australia: Annual General Meeting

Friday 15 August 2008

Sleep Disorders Australia Sleep Disorders Australia is holding its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 20 August at 7:30pm in the Unley Civic Centre, Oxford Terrace, Unley.

The AGM’s special guest will be South Australia’s Minister for Health, Hon John Hill MP, who will discuss issues in his portfolio.

Here are the details:

I am writing to invite you as a recent member of Sleep Disorders Australia to the Annual General Meeting of Sleep Disorders Australia to be held on Wednesday August 20th at 7.30 pm at Unley Civic Centre.

This meeting is very important for Sleep Disorders Australia in South Australia because the Minister of Health is the invited speaker. The Minister has been in the news lately over a number of issues including changes to country hospitals, doctors' salaries and the Marjorie Jackson-Nelson Hospital.

SDA is lobbying the Minister over issues relating to funding of sleep disorders including:

• Long waiting lists and lack of funding for diagnostic sleep studies in the public hospitals

• Lack of funds for the CPAP scheme which provides free pumps to health care card holders

• Electricity rebates for CPAP users and

• Lack of funds for diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in children

It is very important that there is a good attendance at this meeting to give credibility to the cause of people with a sleep disorder.

The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in sleep disorders. Please try and attend and invite interested other persons. The Minister's address will be followed by a light supper and the Annual General Meeting for those who are interested in staying.

Because places will be limited, please call one of the phone numbers above or email lconnell@senet.com.au to tell us that you are coming. Your attendance will help make this an excellent night for Sleep Disorders Australia.

A flyer about the meeting is attached.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Thornton
Secretary, Sleep Disorders Australia
