Phoenix Rising: Congressional Briefing etcMonday 25 August 2008
You can subscribe to the newsletter as well as download each issue. Here’s the latest from Cort: Check out these overviews of the Congressional Briefing for CFS and the recent federal advisory committee (CFSAC) meeting as we wrap up coverage of the busy month of May in CFS. Congressional Briefing. This was the first Congressional Briefing for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in almost ten years. The briefing, put on by the CFIDS Association of America, was a blast. It ended with a stunning presentation by none other than the voice of NPR's Weekend Edition Scott Simon, speaking for Lauren Hillenbrandt, the author of Seabiscuit. We followed that up with a small Lobby Day that focused on putting pressure on the CDC and getting language inserted into a Congressional Appropriations bill calling for the government to step up its efforts in many areas. CFSAC Meeting. The CFSAC meetings are always packed with interesting topics and this one was no different. Among the topics covered in this short overview are • Bumping Heads: the CFIDS Association of America and the Centers for Disease Control An Editorial. Before you get to those, however, the newsletter starts off with a editorial from yours truly prompted in part by a discussion with some longtime ME/CFS physicians. http://phoenix-cfs.org/PRAug08MayDay.html Next up Dr. John Chia talks in detail about his enterovirus findings.
