Why Don't Painkillers Work For People With Fibromyalgia?Monday 24 November 2008 If you’ve tried amitriptyline (see yesterday’s news item) – or any other drug for that matter – and found that it didn’t help your symptoms, you’re not alone. ScienceDaily reports that research undertaken at the University of Michigan Health System indicates that “patients with fibromyalgia were found to have reduced binding ability of a type of receptor in the brain that is the target of opioid painkiller drugs such as morphine”.
