Misplaced Enzyme Is to Blame for Quick Fatigue After Mild ExerciseTuesday 16 December 2008
The researchers say that “the enzyme called neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) is not present at its normal location in the membrane surrounding muscle cells”. Although the study focused on muscular dystrophy, Kevin P Campbell, leader of the research team, said that the results “might have implications for treatment of other conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and even the aging-related muscle weakness that can lead to dangerous falls”.
