New drug approved for Fibromyalgia

About.com’s Guide to Drugs reports on the latest drug to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in
Fibromyalgia.
The drug is Savella (milnacipran hydrochloride), and it was given the all-clear by the FDA on 14 January 2009.
The first drug approved specifically for Fibromyalgiawas Lyrica (pregabalin) – it was approved by the FDA in July 2007. The second was Cymbalta (duloxetine hydrochloride) in June 2008.
