Study: Are Fibromyalgia patients as inactive as they say they are?

Tuesday 10 March 2009

Knees A small study compared two sets of people – one with Fibromyalgiaand the other with rheumatoid arthritis – and found that both groups of people were symptomatically very similar.

The results of the study were published in Clinical Rheumatology.

Here’s what the researchers (Graham Raftery et al) said:

“Both fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients self-report similar disability.

These diseases are viewed differently by the medical profession - as one has ample evidence of tissue damage and inflammation and the other does not.

We were interested to see if an objective measure produced similar results.”
