Documentary: Allergic to the 21st Century?

Monday 5 October 2009

ChemicalsThe UK's Channel Four broadcasts a series of documentaries entitled First Cut, presenting a range of topics.

One episode of First Cut is Allergic to the 21st Century?. It focuses on Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and Electromagnetic Sensitivity.

Here's Channel Four's introduction to the episode:

In London, Sarah Dacre says she suffers such strong allergic responses to electrical appliances and mobile phones that she's moving out of the capital; in Somerset, Gillian McCarthy claims to have such extreme sensitivities to everything from household chemicals to electricity that she is allergic to her own hair.

Conventional medicine may be against them, but many sufferers insist they are 'human canaries' alerting us to the hidden dangers of how we all live. We once thought cigarettes and asbestos weren't doing us any harm - could we be wrong again?

The 21-minute documentary can be seen on the First Cut website or on YouTube in three parts:

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3
