Society seminar reminder

Monday 28 June 2010

ME/CFS Australia (SA) IncIf you are able, please join us this Saturday, 3 July, 11am at the Sofia Conference Room (situated in Cabra Dominican College), 225 Cross Rd Cumberland Park (see map below) for our next seminar.

It will be another bumper session. This time it's a late morning session, because we found that some members prefer late mornings to afternoons.

The speakers at the seminar will be physiotherapists Julie Peacock and Phil Calvert. When we had Julie Peacock to our first session last year, we were disappointed that more of our members could not experience her session, because it would have been beneficial for all. She comes from a viewpoint of a very clear understanding of muscle pain and fatigue conditions in relation to exercise. So we have invited her back again. Phil Calvert also spoke to members several years ago now, and received positive feedback.

Here are the details:

ME/CFS Australia (SA) Inc
3 July 2010, 11am

Julie Peacock

Julie Peacock is the owner and Principal Physiotherapist of Marion Physiotherapy.

Phil Calvert

Phil Calvert is the Manager, Physiotherapy, Women's and Children's Hospital. In February 2005, Phil travelled to the UK to investigate the management of conversion disorder, chronic pain and chronic fatigue syndrome in children and adolescents.

The cost for each meeting is a gold coin for members, $5 for non-members.

Sofia is at the western end of Cabra College (i.e. the seaside end, not the hills end). It's the next gate west of the entrance to Cabra College. We believe the Circle Line goes past there (ring and check before you accept our word for this), and there are bus stops for other routes on Goodwood Road for those who can walk further. Go in the gate marked "Sofia" – it's the next gate along travelling towards the sea from the Cabra College entry. The conference room is in the modern building a little way down that lane. On previous experience, there is no designated car park per se, but our small number of cars shouldn't cause havoc if we park off the roadway.

The total walking distance is about 80 metres from the front carpark, or 40 metres from the second carpark, to the conference room. If walking is an issue, you may ask to be dropped off closer than this.

Please wear warm comfortable loose fitting clothing and you may like to bring a rug or cushion. You can sit in a chair or on a cushion or lie on a carpeted floor if unwell. The venue is heated using gas.

Many people with ME/CFS are extremely chemically sensitive, so we ask attendees to refrain from wearing aftershaves, perfumes etc, and please refrain from smoking at our meetings.
