Survey suggests doctors need to be more familiar with FibromyalgiaSunday 12 December 2010
Survey Suggests Doctors Need to be More Familiar with Fibromyalgia (IRN)-Results of a national survey of women who have fibromyalgia show that it takes too long to be diagnosed. Chicago's Dr. David Edelberg, in reacting to the survey, says the results indicate that more doctors need to become familiar with the condition. The survey found that more than half of women who have fibromyalgia spent more than a year asking doctors what was wrong. Nearly a quarter of those surveyed kept looking for a reason for the pain, tenderness and fatigue for at least five years. Edelberg also notes that the survey found that only about a quarter of the patients believe their spouse or significant other understands what fibromyalgia is. Edelberg says more information is available at: www.fibrotogether.com The above originally appeared here.
