Healthshare

Saturday 8 October 2011

From Australian website Healthshare:

HealthshareAbout Healthshare

Healthshare's on a journey to develop Australia’s online social health network... join us!

Healthshare was created because of our belief that access to health information and resources in Australia is fragmented and sub-optimal.

  • Internet searches turn up vast information but are typically static, from questionable sources, highly fragmented, developed for an overseas audience and not necessarily relevant to you or your situation.

  • Keeping track of what you should be doing to overcome your health challenge or just stay healthy is not easy, particularly where you are not health savvy.

  • Learning from other people’s experiences is typically limited to the knowledge-base around you (such as family and friends).

  • Finding people with similar health experiences to you is time consuming and difficult.

  • Managing a number of health issues at the same time for you and / or a loved one can be very challenging.

Misson & Vision

Our mission is to improve health outcomes for the community by providing access to timely and relevant information and support resources.

  • Connecting Australians through vibrant, online communities centred around health-related areas of interest.

  • Linking Australians to credible & recommended health professional & patient organisations, individual health providers & treatments.

  • Empowering consumers to make better health decisions by offering tools & a platform to engage, generate & share relevant, useful & trustworthy health-oriented information & recommendations.

  • Tapping into existing social networks, the blogosphere & other digital & social media platforms.

  • Our vision is to be the leading online health presence in Australia for health consumers, professionals, community organisations and service providers to collaborate.

Our current upgrade brings us closer to our ultimate vision – providing a more customised, personal view of information and activity by which the health community can collaborate.
