Summary of research into harm caused by CBT/GET

Monday 9 April 2012

From Tom Kindlon (via email):

WritingLink to summary of my recently published paper

Tom Kindlon

Last December, I had this paper published:

Kindlon T. Reporting of Harms Associated with Graded Exercise Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Bulletin of the IACFS/ME. 2011;19(2):59-111
Free full text at:

I circulated the abstract and link to the full paper to local and national ME/CFS groups around the world and encouraged them to highlight it e.g. in their newsletters, on their websites, on Facebook, etc.

A few groups wondered whether there was a summary. One person suggested I concentrate on using extracts from the paper for the summary. That seemed to make sense as the paper is more eloquent than my usual output (at least, partly down to input from others!).
