US Couple Uses Mustang Week To Raise Fibromyalgia AwarenessTuesday 21 July 2015
From US news outlet WMBF News:
Local couple uses Mustang Week to raise fibromyalgia awareness MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A couple is using Myrtle Beach Mustang Week to raise fibromyalgia awareness by introducing the first "Fibromyalgia Awareness Mustang." Amy and Gregg Faulkenberry are among the thousands who showcase their Mustang throughout Mustang Week, but their goal goes beyond showing off the work they've put into her. The name of their Mustang is the Butterfly Warrior, a Mustang meant to teach people more about fibromyalgia, and support those who have it. After being diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year, Amy Faulkenberry quickly learned not many people know what the disease is, or of the day-to-day challenges that come along with it: fatigue, flu-like symptoms, and sharp pains. This discovery prompted the Faulkenberrys to take the battle into their own hands and they feel bringing the Butterfly Warrior to Mustang Week, really helps get the word out. They hope the Mustang serves to "actually educate them, and if they know somebody we can say okay, this is how you need to approach them, you know show compassion, instead of being mean and criticize, or distant," the couple explained. This week, the Butterfly Warrior will be seen by thousands of people, and the Faulkenberrys are confident she will help people better understand the disease and how to live with it.
