The Federal Election – Postal VotingThursday 12 May 2016
If you are eligible to vote but unable to attend a polling booth due to ill-health, you can offer a postal vote. The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has this information on its General Postal Voters web page:

Once you are registered as a general postal voter, you will automatically receive your ballot papers in the mail after an election has been announced. You do not need to re-apply for future elections.
