Millions of Americans suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome A rally was held in Northampton to bring more attention to a severe life-altering illness. Northampton, Mass. (WWLP) – Medical professionals, patients, residents and advocates gathered in front of Northampton City Hall to raise awareness for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, also known as “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.” Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, commonly referred to as ME, is a disease that involves inflammation of the brain and the spinal column. It impacts both the immune system and the nervous system. 25% of patients are homebound, and 75% can’t work. As many as two and half million Americans have ME.
