A 44-year-old woman with chronic fatigue syndrome has created a 'kindness advent calendar' to spread a bit of happiness this festive season.

Helen Green, of Hucknall, once worked abroad teaching English, but her debilitating condition often leaves her unable to get out of bed.

She has spent the past 18 months doing good deeds in the community, like leaving chocolate bars for people to find, since her diagnosis last July.

Helen, of Nabbs Lane, who has suffered with the condition for the past three years, has now created a traditional festive treat.

But instead of the usual chocolate advent calendar, users are told to embrace the true spirit of Christmas by doing 25 random acts of kindness in the run up to the annual holiday.

The kindness calendar has already had more than 3,500 downloads and has been viewed by over 11,000 people in 77 different countries.
